Now this would be a cover song to die for...

Anyone who's followed skippy since at least Joe Biden said to Barack Obama, "This is a big f@$k!* deal" knows I'm a half-crazy King Crimson fan. So...

I was listening to the tune above, and I thought, Bill Rieflin was with the band Ministry at the time (early '90s), and now he's one of the three or four drummers with King Crimson today.

Yes. That band has at least three drummers in its lineup. I saw them at the Orpheum in '95 when they had but two -- louder than pandemonium as they were then, imagine three of them now. Good Lord!

I couldn't sit in any hall they play at these days. I have a fair case of tinnitus I live with 24/7 -- not entirely sure it's the fault of loud music, but why make it any worse?

My point is, I can't help wondering, what if King Crimson, circa today,  were to cover "Jesus Built My Hot Rod"?

I think, if I heard that, I would die one clearly happy mockingbird Jim...

Personally...

I like songs with odd time signatures or songs with time changes. They get my attention, and they make me follow them. I take some pride in my ability to do that, silly as that sounds. I love nailing time signatures downn

But when it's "Gravity's Angel"?

I cannot nail this one down. It's been thirty years since I first heard this tune.

I can't do it. I love this song. But I surrender...

Just blowing off steam....

I was eating a good scrambled western omelette breakfast after work Thursday morning, watching the news about this Kavanaugh son of a bitch. The reporting was fairly even, I thought.

Except for one bit: there was no mention of the accuser receiving death threats.

Why, oh why, didn't she come forward when she was fifteen?

You know what? The older I get, the more I hate bullies...

Good Mornin', America, How Are Ya...

I moved from Lowell, Massachusetts to Richmond, Virginia in 1998. Long story short, I wound up at a paper bag factory similar to the one I worked at in Pepperell, Mass. I grew to hate that job in short order, but, several years later, grew to love Richmond. That job lasted a year and seven months, and the place went belly up in 2007 or 2008 -- I don't remember, and frankly, I don't give a rat's ass. The important thing is, I found a city I would have happily spent the rest of my life in. I'd still be in Richmond today if I wasn't such a big fat innate dumbass. But anyway...

I would get off work back in '98, take the bus to the nearest stop to my apartment, and, on occasion, sing this song to myself. I was a born and bred New Englander, chip on shoulder, bug up ass... and, frankly, happier than a Kodiak bear at a salmon buffet.

Those nights, walking home alone, with the quarter moon looking like the Eye of Ra keeping watch over me, are a few of the happiest moments of my life. On my own, scared, yet not feeling alone and, somehow, confident.

Somehow, I knew I would always see tomorrow. That is one feeling Nashua, New Hampshire does not instill in me, or anyone else I know.

And, here I am.

Enjoy...
