new must see documentary - mad as hell

today i attended a special santa barbara international film festival showing of "mad as hell" a documentary about cenk uygor and the young turks. fascinating. love him or hate him, he has changed the face of progressive media. i urge you to go see it. check out the website...but definitely put it on your "to watch" list. you'll be reminded that if you aren't mad...you aren't paying attention to what is happening to our country.

cenk was there for q&a (as was several of the turks and the director of the film) and i was pleasantly surprised he remembered me from years ago when he spoke at the ca democratic convention. we agreed that we still have so much work to do to beat back the kochs and the corporate/insider take over of our media. wolf-pac is a start.

the president has indicated he will ask for an increase in taxes on the wealthy in the state of the union.  it will get zero rapepublican votes.  what gives me a sad is he could have made this happen with zero rapepublican votes if he had just let the bush tax cuts expire.  instead, the great capitulator made the bush tax cuts permanent when the democrats controlled both houses of congress.

Happy New Year Anyway...

Barring a nuclear war or an alien invasion, I don't see how this year will be any different from the last one. Or the previous three thousand, for that matter.

So why do I even bother anymore? I dunno -- there's no reason for mockingbirds to go on flying or singing, but they go on anyway.

I'm going on ten years as a guest blogger for the big roo. Ten years. I still don't know why skippy likes me. But I do know why I like him. I'd have to write a book to explain that.

Suffice to say, I'm still in one piece. And skippy is one of the reasons why.

Til further on...
