stay classy, tea baggers!

tea bagger protesters hurl the n word & f word @ various reps in the capitol today. mcclatchey:
lewis said he was leaving the cannon office building across from the capitol when protesters shouted "kill the bill, kill the bill," lewis said.

"i said 'i'm for the bill, i support the bill, i'm voting for the bill,' " lewis said.

a colleague who was accompanying lewis said people in the crowd responded by saying "kill the bill, then the n-word."

"it surprised me that people are so mean and we can't engage in a civil dialogue and debate," lewis said.

rep. emanuel cleaver, d-mo., said he was a few yards behind lewis and distinctly heard "nigger."

"it was a chorus," cleaver said. "in a way, i feel sorry for those people who are doing this nasty stuff - they're being whipped up. i decided i wouldn't be angry with any of them."

protestors also used a slur as they confronted rep. barney frank, d-mass., an openly gay member of congress. a writer for huffington post said the crowd called frank a "faggot."

frank told the boston globe that the incident happened as he was walking from the longworth house office building to the rayburn house office building, both a short distance from the capitol. frank said the crowd consisted of a couple hundred of people and that they referred to him as "homo."
civil rights hero rep. john lewis (d-ga) and fellow congressional black caucus member andre carson (d-in) related a particularly jarring encounter with a large crowd of protesters screaming "kill the bill"... and punctuating their chants with the word "nigger."

standing next to lewis, emerging from a democratic caucus meeting with president obama, carson said people in the crowd yelled, "kill the bill and then the n-word" several times, while he and lewis were exiting the cannon house office building.

"people have been just downright mean," lewis added.

and that wasn't an isolated incident. early this afternoon, standing outside a democratic whip meeting in the longworth house office building, i watched rep. barney frank (d-ma) make his way out the door, en route to the neighboring rayburn building. as he rounded the corner toward the exit, wading through a huge crowd of tea partiers and other health care protesters, an elderly white man screamed "barney, you faggot"--a line that caused dozens of his confederates to erupt in laughter.

after that incident, capitol police threatened to expel the protesters from the building, but were outnumbered and quickly overwhelmed. tea party protesters equipped with high-end video cameras were summoned to film the encounter and the officers ultimately relented.

after the caucus meeting, tpmdc's evan mcmorris-santoro caught up with frank, who reflected on the incident.

"i'm disappointed at a unwillingness to be just civil," frank said. "[t]he objection to the health care bill has become a proxy for other sentiments."

"obviously there are perfectly reasonable people that are against this, but the people out there today on the whole--many of them were hateful and abusive," frank added.
nice one, wingers!

The videos of this, the Parkinson's disease fellow in Seattle and the reactions of Rush and his scum to the eleven year old whose mother died from lack of access to health care, need to be shown whenever anyone even mentions Tea Bags.

They bought it. They own it.

All this because some people want other human beings have access to health care.

These people are all fired up w pitchforks & torches because someone wants to be humane & compassionate?

Where was this anger when Bush started his war in lies, and broke domestic & international laws??

Well, we already knew that bigotry and hatred were the main motivating factors for the teabaggers, i.e. that their biggest beef was that they had a "nigger President" even though they vehemently denied this was the case for months and months and months. Glad to see them say it in a public way that we can spread about now, though.

It's like Digby said the other day: remember when John Edwards said there were two Americas? Well, there's the other one -- the tea-bagging, black-hating, gay-bashing, mean-spirited one. These people are beyond reach and reason. And I wish the real conservatives -- the ones I often disagree with, but am still able to get along with in general -- would disown these miserable little creeps already...
