the democrats deserve to lose the mid-term elections

atrios thinks the economy is going to be a problem for the democrats in the mid-terms. he's right and, what is more, the democrats deserve to lose their seats, and so do the republicans. but it's the democrats who will bear the brunt of the pain because they were handed a majority with which to do something and they haven't done anything worthwhile except hand out money to rich bankers. yes, the republicans managed to create this mess with little help from the democrats, and yes, the democrats' main fault is not overcoming the republicans who have been obstructing progress and any proposed fixes to the economy, but if you're handed a big hammer and are told to bang nails and you say, "the nails won't let us bang them"...

Bullshit. If we get health care reform and the public option has an up or down vote we will do what we need to do in November to support those who made it happen.

It is true that there are a lot of bills bottled up in the senate because of republican obstructionism. However, the democrats seem to be playing a gentlemans game while the republicans are in knife and gun fights.

When one starts out asking for less than one thinks is necessary or something less than the best, as the democrats did with both HCR and the stimulus, you're going to get less than you asked for.

What this WH has done is to give (or try to give) mass amounts of money to banksters, pharma, insurance with a few crumbs from the rich man's table for the rest of us.

And buy the way there will be no up or down vote for a public option which is itself a seond rate version of single payor.

The Democrats better come up with something halfway decent in a health care reform bill. They have about eight months to get it done -- not a great sign when they've been puttering around for thirteen months, with Nelson, Rockefeller, Lincoln, Stupak, and others taking turns playing Asshole Of The Week.

As things currently stand, yes, they deserve to lose...
