talk to the hand

sure, there's plenty of chatter in blogtopia and yes, we coined that phrase, about the quitta from wasilla writing her crib notes on her hand for the tea bagger convention yesterday.

but there is a larger issue being ignored by the media (sure, we get the irony: the press ignoring news? stop the presses!) and that is simply this: how was palin received by the grassroots, ie, the people whose movement this supposedly is?

tho we know the plural of anecdote is not data, we were interested to read this comment from pepperzmom (from georgia) on the mudflats blog:

spoke to my nashvillean friend, and he said a lot of people in the room later pitched complaints when gathering around the halls of the hotel over “paying over $500 to hear nothing” from s’error but complaints/the same thing again. some of those complainers then went on to say “i could have stayed home and heard the same thing for nothing. what a rip-off”. a different person (not connected to baggies) who overheard them then said ” you got what you paid for – nothing from nothing is nothing” (channel billy preston here).

friend then went outside and heard similar mutterings of “cheap”, “ripoff” and “not supporting” baggies in the future. and, some discussions over the cheat palming! also, too, he heard one really “gutter” oriented riposte about ‘palms’, ‘oil’ and ‘hand jivin’. i’m not going to repeat here, so don’t ask – but i do believe some with good imaginations came put together a pretty good picture/idea of what was said.

friend had a good chuckle over what he heard.

Well, you might expect the people who could afford to attend the whole mess in the first place to be a little more perceptive than the average T.P.er.

You don't have an extra $1,000 or so lying around to blow on a wknd. if you let every whiner w/ a sob story into your wallet. It just took them this long to figure it out.

When the real sheep wise up is another question.

I'm just not seeing the problem here. I generally have a 3x5 index card when I give a speech with a few topics on it that I want to talk about. I don't write the speech on the index card (duh, it's 3x5, not a friggin' iPad), but I might glance at it from time to time to make sure I had hit what I wanted to hit. The deal about writing the notes on the hand is sorta weird, but not *that* weird, I see suburban housewives doing that all the time at the grocery store, probably because they were sitting in the minivan at little Muffy's soccer game and making up a shopping list and couldn't find anything to write on.

Palin is a dumbass and a moron, but that ain't got nothin' to do with keeping an outline of your speech on your note card. Even the hypocrisy charge doesn't fly. She wasn't reading her speech off her hand, unless she has really BIG hands. She was checking her hand to make sure she'd hit all the points she was trying to hit. Saying that's the same thing as reading a speech off of a teleprompter is just plain insane.

Well the thing about the hand note is she had just dissed Obama for using a teleprompter.
So now people are calling this the hillbilly teleprompter.

When an (ex) politician spends much of their time dissing someone else, it only shows they lack substance. No big newsflash there.
But Palin's new buzzword phrase is "common sense"... if you have it, then you don't need to keep pitching it.

Make no mistake, Sarah would love nothing more than to have the tea party masses, dub HER the Queen of the tea party, so that she feels compelled to run for president, because this is what the people demand.
This is why she is playing the "unknown" game, when asked if she will run for prez. If she flat out said she is NOT running... it would be game over.

The reason Palin is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me, is she puts on this girlie, kitten kind of persona. Her American girl spunky image.... but she spews venom, and waxes poetic about "the rich warehouse of resources on god's green earth"....
which is code for rape & pillage of the earth, and helicopter slaughter of animals.

I hate the fact she had all these kids, but is not willing to take care of the planet for them.
If she had her way, Polar bears would become extinct while she favored the drill baby drill program, which is really a kill baby kill program- doing in the environment & several species along the way.

Her gosh golly facade, while sniping @ Obama sucks. How about this comment--

We need a Commander in Chief, not a Professor of law....

Because she likes the CIC to be decider-y, and torture-y, doing things unconstitutionall-y,

Because she does not want to mix up being legal-y, and following international law, and Geneva conventions....
just go rogue & GAWD BLESS AMERICA.

Actually- I hope the tea party nation is vastly successful- in dividing the GOP- right here on god's green earth.
