from a 538 thread about the public option on health care, tho we think it's applicable to our political landscape in general:

i know there are a lot of registered democrats here, but try to resist that dem urge to throw in the towel in the first minute of round 2.
but since we're on the subject of the public option, pls. read what nate has to say about the idea that the states could have the option to "opt out" of the option. we agree w/him that it's a brilliant strategic plan (our words, not his).
