congrats president obama

on winning the nobel peace prize. what amazing news to wake up to.

"only very rarely has a person to the same extent as obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the norwegian committee said in a statement.

"his diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population."

asked why the prize had been awarded to mr obama less than a year after he took office, nobel committee head thorbjoern jagland said: "It was because we would like to support what he is trying to achieve". - bbc

can just imagine the foaming at the mouth by right wingers on the talk radio today. blood pressure pills will be gobbled down like m&m's.

now, mr. president, go have a sit down with another nobel peace prize winner, the dalai lama.

Not buying it, Jill, sorry. Obama's got a long way to go before he earns that award...

I did a whole post on it, myself.

I have mixed feelings.
Soon, I will attend a War will not bring peace to Afghanistan rally.

People are suffering & being seriously injured and dying because of the bombs flying in their countries. United States bombs, in aggressive wars, that were misguided from the beginning.
Hell- Obama is leaning towards sending 40,000 MORE troops to Afghanistan.

I thank the Stars Obama was elected, I voted for him & worked a bit on his campaign.
But a message of hope , and real to the core non violence and peace are harder work and take more of a commitment than dropping bombs.

How does the saying go???

War is terrorism with a bigger budget.

Granted he did not start them.... he has not deescalated or finished them either.

Wars have literally bankrupted this country both financially and morally.

It is as if they handed him an award before he ran the marathon.

Furthermore, look at the life of MLK jr, and his commitment to non violence even through all he endured, compared to Obama.

Surviving an election against Hillary does not begin to compare... remember they had to nominate him 1 month into his presidency.

I can understand the absolute elation that Bush was not longer at the helm.... it seems like they got a little carried away on the topic.

It's like they gave him the prize before he ran the marathon.

He's got some big shoes to fill.

The whole world is watching.
