sarah palin: quitter
via memeorandum, alaskan tv station ktuu gives us the scoop:
but seriously folks (we love saying that after making a joke about jokes...it's all so "meta"), it's no surprise that maggie o'connell decided not to run for re-election. everybody this side of ron paul knows she's planning to go for the presidency in 2012, and, as she proved last year, it's hard for her to run andchew gum govern @ the same time.
however, nobody has any idea why she's quitting early. maybe she wants to set a good example for mark sanford. maybe she's got her own appalachian trail to hike. maybe she can't take all the heat from that flaming liberal rag politico.
personally, we would not be surprised if it had somethign to do w/embarassment over todd's affiliation w/the alaskasecessionist independence party. but we will have to wait and see if the truth comes out.

gov. sarah palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her wasilla home friday morning.
lt. gov. sean parnell will be inaugurated at the governor's picnic at pioneer park in fairbanks the weekend of july 25, palin said.
there was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 republican presidential nomination.

the national society of newspaper chose gov. sarah palin last week as the winner of its annual sitting duck award, a tongue-in-cheek honor that pokes fun at "the crème de la crème of the most ridiculed newsmakers in america."
...past president mike leonard, a columnist for the herald times of bloomington, ind.: "as a hoosier, i feel that she's done something that dan quayle could never do. which was to make dan quayle look good. ... after the election, the video of sarah and the poultry processing factory ... that pretty much says it all. the gift that keeps on giving." - juneau empire
