a republican says the first lady is related to a gorilla

and somehow didn't think it would be offensive to anyone.
a prominent south carolina republican killed his facebook page sunday after being caught likening the first lady to an escaped gorilla.

commenting on a report posted to facebook about a gorilla escape at a zoo in columbia, s.c., friday, longtime gop activist rusty depass wrote, "i'm sure it's just one of michelle's ancestors - probably harmless.

... "i am as sorry as i can be if i offended anyone. the comment was clearly in jest." - daily news

update - yet another south carolina politico posts racist jokes on the internet(s) but this time on twitter. what a twit.

update 2 - yet another...yes another...south carolina politico publicizes their racist views...this time in an email that was sent out.

so...it seems that contacting the state's politicians to complain won't work...perhaps complaining to the south carolina department of tourism will. tell'm you would love to visit this beautiful state (it really has some gorgeous areas) but won't until they come into the 21st century united states of america.

And they wonder why they dont get invited to parties that are fun...

"the comment was made clearly in jest"...

well,..(sigh) probably so in his mind. And that is even more sad than someone saying shit like this in anger, or just being an honest racist.

It means that this a-hole is so steeped in racist thinking and mindsets that he can not distinguish the difference between overt "In your face and fuck you if you dont like it" racism,
and embedded covert racism....

It says that in his mind...it does not matter what you say as long as you remember to follow the remark with.."I was just kidding"....
Add the Tennessee GOP to the list of racist anti-Obama idiocy spouted this weekend by those "conservative Christians".(h/t Think Progress)

I complained to the department of tourism...
Christians keep digging themselves in deeper and deeper, don't they?
