my letter on health care reform

i wrote to my representative, a republican who serves his district by saying "no" to anything that might help individuals and "yes" to anything that would spend money on war or big business, to tell him of my support for a public health care plan.

his answer was inadequate. here's something he or the staff member who wrote the letter said:
One of the concerns I have about the proposed public plan is that it may be modeled on existing Medicare payment rules. This would be extremely inefficient, costly and unfair to high-quality, high-value states like Minnesota. For example, in many cases it would actually cost less for a Florida Medicare patient to fly roundtrip to Minnesota for treatment than if they stayed for treatment in Florida!

so i wrote back:
Dear Congressman:

Thank you for your response to my email in which I told you of my support for a public plan for health care. One thing you wrote struck me very forcefully. You (or maybe it was a member of your staff) wrote: "One of the concerns I have about the proposed public plan is that it may be modeled on existing Medicare payment rules. This would be extremely inefficient, costly and unfair to high-quality, high-value states like Minnesota. I was wondering if the taxpayer provided health care that you enjoy is efficient and not too costly. I'd be happy for the opportunity to be on a public plan modeled on the one you enjoy, which I am sure is efficient and not too costly. Maybe you should propose to put all Americans on that plan. I'd support that.

Don't you always??? :))
Healthcare & social services are all just some kind of theoretical bargaining chips.... it;s really like Congress just does not give a flying rip about what the voters think anymore.
Besides it is the lobbies - insurance & big pharma that puts lots of cash in their campaign coffers. They are indebted to the $$$$$.

They don't care because they have the Cadillac health care policy.

Bastards.

With various health care reform bills floating around both the House and the Senate, President Barack Obama is pulling out all the stops to get the votes that the bill needs, which is good news for the public option. President Obama continues to rally behind health care reform. I am really concerned that the fiasco of this reform may make Obama a one-term president.
