I really don't know about "like never heard him before"

Ever heard Lust for Life or Nightclubbing?

And this swing based stuff has always been there, the Stooges on a good night could make Led Zeppelin sound leaden.

Sure the trumpet puts a veneer over the top but it's only a veneer.

And by all accounts the Igster was a pretty decent blues drummer before he took up singing.
