we know we hit a nerve because your face is red and you're screaming in pain
this humble blog's traffic, just like the economy and the rest of blogtopia, and yes, we coined that phrase, has tumbled mightily in the last few years or so.
aside from the days surrounding elections (and, unfortunately, during the national shame of katrina), our traffic has slumped lower than the gop's popularity, or bobby jindal's integrity.
really, the only readers we can count on seem to be calgary lady, essaress, mahakal, mad kane and linkmeister. [ed. note: and chidyke, too!] even some of our regular contributors haven't been around since the sars epidemic. (we're looking at you, holden caufield and rj eskow!)
so imagine our surprise to get not one, not two, but three (so far) hardly-ever-right wing responses to our piece about the astro-turfing known as the "tea parties."
as the dirty hippie lawyer said, we were attacked almost immediately, which makes us think we might be onto something...

I do comment once in a while, but your usual suspects have usually got the case covered.
Also, I check obsessively for updates! ;-)
If the GOP wants to be known as the Party of Prevarication, it's doing a great job.

She said "ball sucking"...hehehehe.
I, too, read this blog on a daily basis...I just don't always leave a comment, just like I'm sure there are those who visit my blog and don't comment.
In the future I will try to be more diligent in leaving a comment.

I am proud to call myself 'a skippy fan' and am honoured to be acknowledged as such by you, my sweet skippy!
Reading comments made by rightwingdings is always fun. It's a measure of your success, skippy, that you have attracted their ire. I just happened to notice that one of these particular crazies wandered over to Crooks and Liars last night and received a good pummelling. The poor dear must be lonely. Or maybe just masochistic.
Keep up the great work ... this chick will always be with ya, skip!

And BTW who precisely is this jag-off calling a Squirrel ??
His grammar is worse than mine and he left me both confused angry (Not hard really) with his penchant for pointing out things that apparently I simply didn't see ; i.e., "You See...and You see" .
I see. I see another idiot that is damn certain he is superior to Everyone that does not acknowledge his absolutely correct posture and ideology. About Everything...
And you know...It does not make a Tinkers Damn in difference .
These jerks are trying so goddam hard. Why didn't they try this hard during the last twelve years???
Anyway 'Cha-cha Chad needs glasses if he cannot distinguish between a Kangaroo and a squirrel.

Count me as another of your faithful followers (read daily, post occasionally).
The idea of "Socialist Squirrels" sounds funny. It's like an Emo band or something.
I think it's the prevalence of RSS feeds that keeps the visitor count down. Who needs to visit and click the sitemeter if you can read the blog in your reader?
I hope that's the case, because my traffic has dropped off a cliff. ;)

My traffic is down too. I think it's partially RSS feeds and partially everyone's so busy writing, they aren't reading.
Also there's a ridiculous number of really good blogs out there. In fact, there are lots of blogs that I love and almost never read anymore, even though I really want to. Not enough hours in the day!

Good for you, Skippy! Glad to hear you're upsetting some Right-wingers out there!
Understand, I'm trying to make sure I keep my job. I always read your headlines! I've got you linked to my blog! I'm doing what I can!
I think there are too many good blogs out there, as said earlier, and since we got rid of the Bush Administration, I hope we're not putting down our guard.
We're reading, Skippy! Keep it up!

Traffic? What is this traffic of which you speak?
We will never stop reading you, oh wondrous bush kangaroo. The increased attention from the Reich wing is to be expected when they spiral into desperation as they have done of late.
Does this mean my plan of getting through the economic downturn by tons of BlogAds revenue is going to be somewhat more difficult than I originally thought it would be? Oh noes!
Anyways,... buck up, boyo. You have not hit the rock bottom of getting close to the Republican'ts in popularity as far as I'm concerned. I think you're doing just fine, and you should keep up the good work!
Best,
T

A respected commentator quoted on both CNN AND the Daily Show- never- you will make comeback like Pat Buchanan.
I'm here every day, sometimes a couple of times. Comments are down at my blog too but the number of unique visitors is the same every day.
Hey! Congrats on striking the raw nerve!
Hey! Congrats on striking the raw nerve!
I'm a daily reader, too, although a fairly recent addition to, what I imagine is a long, long list.
About a couple weeks after Obama won the election, I started seeing one liberal blogger after another piss and moan over some of his choices for various administration posts with nearly the same "outrage" (after all this time, those quote marks really do need to be there) they'd expressed over the years toward this or that Bush scandal. I kept thinking to myself, "You all have got to be kidding me." Obama was several weeks away from being sworn in, and people on the Left were already stopping just short of disowning him.
All I wanted on election day was an Obama victory. That was it. And I got exactly what I wanted. Way I see it, I have nothing to complain about. I'm still just happy that he won, even if only because the alternative was John McCain. It was a great way to mark the end of Bush's second term, which was a rather turbulent -- and at times, to some who know me, frightening -- period of my life, especially 2008. At least I got through it all with my sanity intact.
So when I saw some of these same bloggers I'd been reading for years ratcheting up the same old "outrage" over something as petulent and pointless as their disenchantment with Obama's Cabinet picks and such (correct me if I'm wrong, skippy, but since Obama won the election, I do believe he gets to pick whoever he pleases to assist him in running the country)... I dunno, I guess something inside me just flickered out. I didn't like several of his choices myself. But he won, and that's what I wanted. And I'll be damned if I'm going to spend the next four years pissing and moaning because the man I wanted to win isn't doing things exactly my way. Or, in the case of some other bloggers, Exactly My Way.
So if I appear to be a fraction of what I used to be around here (which I am), that would be one of the reasons why. Scaling way back on the political blogging was much like giving up the moniker Mimus Pauly: both were long overdue.
And yet, I'm still here. Ain't much, perhaps. But it's better than nothing...

I am glad you are still hanging around Jim...and everyone else...It is a better place for your presence..
As far as your observation concerning "outrage"...yeah..I have noticed the same thing and wondered the same or similar thoughts...it must just be a difficult habit to get out of...I hope that is all..snark is pretty much my standard answer to pretty much everything...but some of the people with blogs are not snarky....just plain bitchy and cranky...
Like my spouse keeps accusing me of...

It must be the "Bush" kangaroo thing, skippy. After all, according to the Beltway dolts, Bush never existed. ;-)
Hey, I've been reading ya since 2002. I just haven't commented (or had a blogger account) until now.

glad to see the wingnuts are so upset about the massive FAIL that was their little ball sucking party. heh. all the pics i've seen can be described with two words: "unpopulated" and "lame."
