skipping peanut butter

luckily for our namesake, skippy peanut butter, as well as all other national jar brands, is apparently safe from the current peanut butter salmonella outbreak, and there is no recall. but the health care examiner suggests you err on the side of jelly caution:

seriously what about skippy? at this time, according to the fda, there is no indication that any national name brand jars of peanut butter sold in retail stores are linked to the pca recall. still i'd be wary at least until the fda identifies more data and reports to the public. the fda notes that it will be able to release a report sometime next week.

so avoid anything with peanut butter in it at least for now. and if you have products in your cupboard that have been purchased since september, just do the prudent thing and throw them out.
the fda page warns only of recalls of parnell's pride, peanut corp. of america, and george w. bush king nut.

I never go by the FDA for any environmental information. The CDC is usually more on top of things.
How many food poisonings have we had over the last two years? Need I say more.

Wouldn't I know if the peanut butter in my cabinet that I've been eating, say once a week since I bought it, is making me sick? Perhaps I might notice that?
