karma's a bitch

the karma in this case is not so much michele bachmann's, tho that is delightful. but more on a larger scale of the whole (or should that be 'hole'?) gop.

bachman, as you may know, made a remark on hardball questioning barack "to the future" obama's patriotism. since then, her once-solid re-election campaign has been in a tailspin. asspress:

republican rep. michele bachmann spent months building her profile through appearances on "larry king live" and other tv talk shows. it took only a few minutes of airtime, and one disparaging remark about barack obama, to undo it.

after saying on msnbc's "hardball" that obama "may have anti-american views," bachmann found herself fending off criticism from former secretary of state colin powell, a republican, and democratic house speaker nancy pelosi.

worse, bachmann's comment uncorked a gusher of donations to her opponent, transforming a race she had been favored to win into one more worry spot for republicans.

democrat elwyn tinklenberg said his campaign brought in $740,000 in less than 72 hours, an amount he could only have imagined before bachmann's remarks. it took the former state transportation commissioner a year to raise $1 million before that, and bachmann started the campaign's critical final month with almost four times as much cash as he had.

before friday's "hardball" aired, bachmann was favored to win a second term despite being one of minnesota's most polarizing political figures. democrats despise bachmann, who gained prominence by pushing a gay marriage ban while a state legislator. in the past year, she has become a regular on cable talk shows, pressing conservative views on oil drilling and other issues and vocally opposing the financial bailout.
you can see rep. bachmann's foot go into her mouth here:

too bad for her. but our karma comment has more to do w/the lack of positive results from the same ol same ol tactics of smear and innuendo used by the repubbbs this election cycle.

the gop has, for two prez elections, and two mid-term elections, relied on non-substantive whispering implications and outright lies to disguise their lack of real policies. (an argument could even be made that it goes back further, to the impeachment proceedings of bill clinton).

now finally -- finally! -- america has had it with the immature school yard machinations of the repubbbs, and are actively rewarding those who do not engage in such machiavellian manipulations, much to the dismay of those gopers up for re-election (and john mcmuffin/maggie o'connell as well).

and that, we say, is karma.

I certainly hope your premise is completely correct Skippy....But ..as I think someone here opined the other..awhilr back,...those people whom are such avid GOP fodder will STILL be here even if the part itself manages to actually perform self-decapitation.
And a lot of the folks in the GOP coma from households/families the actually were Democrat until the sixties civil rights unrest...something to keep in mind... And will the Dems turn those folks away if the GOP gets totally screwed??? Hell No.
So now those miscreant, misanthropes will be Democrats in good standing except that they ARE STILL THE SAME ASSHOLES.
I dunno, but Obama was to me a clear choice of at least making some effort to change the nature of discussion.
well,...my two cents..
