the best way to show someone hating the troops is to show them loving the troops

mclame is airing two ads explaining how barack "to the future" obama hates the troops. ben smith at politico points out:

the mccain camp's best chance all along, polls have suggested, has been lingering doubts about obama's character, which range from unfamiliarity to a sense among some voters that he's in some way foreign to them. (that a sizable minority will utterly despise each candidate is a pretty basic feature of american partisan politics; the question is how wide this goes.) today, mccain is testing the depth and flammability of those doubts. it's a serious, frontal attack, and if the two candidates' ads on this air in the same large volume as earlier spots -—mike allen says this one's starting in colorado and pennsylvania — poll numbers emerging about a week from now will be interesting to watch.

also: jonathan martin catches an odd detail:

mccain's new ad accusing obama of refusing to meet troops includes a clip of obama playing basketball with ... troops.
we assume next mcsame will attack obama for wanting a timetable for withdrawl in iraq by agreeing to a timetable for withdrawl in iraq. oh, wait a minute...

Yes, but when Obama was playing basketball there were cameras present, which only proves McCain's point.

And since there is no footage of Obama talking to the troops when there weren't cameras, how can you ever prove that he has, huh?
