tim russert dead, news lives on

in a stoke of the worst personal friday the 13th luck ever, tim russert died today of an apparent heart attack. msnbc:

tim russert, nbc news’ washington bureau chief and the moderator of “meet the press,” died friday after a sudden heart attack at the bureau, nbc news said friday. he was 58.

russert was recording voiceovers for sunday’s “meet the press” program when he collapsed, the network said. he and his family had recently returned from italy, where they celebrated the graduation of russert’s son, luke, from boston college.

no further details were immediately available.
we have often made fun of russert for his apparent agenda in his approach to news, as well as his unconfirmed drinking habits. but it's not nice to say nasty things about people on the day they die, so we will refrain from hoping out loud that this might signal a return to objective punditry on the part of nbc news.

besides, there's always chris matthews.

Are you kidding me skippy? He was the only respectable thing on that channel. He wasn't perfect by any means, but compared to the rest of the clowns on that channel, it's like comparing Walter Cronkite to a row of braying asses, and I don't mean donkeys.
