"did i say bullets? i meant, little girls"

joe gandelman of the moderate voice examines clinton's "misspoke":

senator hillary clinton’s admission that she “misspoke” — a political word usage sort of like “pre-owned cars” instead of “used cars” — in the dramatic anecdote she told of having to run to avoid sniper fire in bosnia undermines a campaign theme and now plops her in the middle of that dangerous credibility danger zone where reporters and editors will now carefully check her every assertion.

she can expect editors to look at every nook and cranny of the clintons’ tax returns and research future statements of experience on specific issues or dramatic anecdotes. and she can probably expect the footage of contradictions to surface in a campaign ad by democratic presidential nomination front runner barack obama because the bosnia revision puts the underlying issue on the table.

the clinton campaign had argued that the press needed to vet obama more thoroughly, but this incident likely means clinton will come under closer media scrutiny: if the press sees smoke and fire, it sniffs to see if it can detect more smoke and find another fire.
joe goes on to provide both multi-millionaire media and blog reactions to this latest gaffe.

he also provides us w/this cbs news report which definitely contradicts what sen. clinton said:

this fiasco, along w/other recent missteps, does not bode well for the clinton campaign.

as sharyl attkisson says on the video, "memories should always match the videotape."

david brooks:

"Last week, an important Clinton adviser told Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen (also of Politico) that Clinton had no more than a 10 percent chance of getting the nomination. Now, she’s probably down to a 5 percent chance.

"Five percent."

that's some math he pulls out of his ass.

BoBo's being generous with 5%.

This is the question hat Hillary must ask: "If your memory of dodging bullets and wearing a bulletproof vest as you dashed from your airplane did not happen in Bosnia, then where did it happen?"

If I had a car accident, I may be hazy on the details, but I certainly would not remember having one if one did not occur.

So did Hillary have to run from an airplane in some war torn country while she was First Lady or is she simply a liar?

At least go ahead and show the other video out there, skippy.

I want to know who out here would volunteer themselves and their only child into the situation on the video posted above.

Send Laura and Jen to an outpost in Afghanistan or for that matter Barack and Michelle Obama and then get back to me about how much I should care about CBS's selective editing.

thanks for blogging it...( your version is better than mine ...) I have tried to not blog negative....but this did indeed burn me up...

Experience matters....Especially when it is not fictionalized....

and we all know that LIES are indeed Dangerous....

and we don't need anymore Lies....

well, sean, i looked at the video, and yes, she and chelsea were among soldiers at posts, and visiting the wounded in hospitals, and no, i personally wouldn't volunteer to go there, but i still didn't see any bullets.

anyway, to be fair, my post was about her disengenuity about the danger invovled w/her plane landing, with which the video obviously disagreed.
commented by Blogger skippy, 8:04 PM PDT
True enough, skip, but you can't tell me that landing by helicopter at a remote outpost or even the initial landing by plane was not viewed as potentially being a very real threat by the military and the secret service. Nor that military aircraft were not in real danger of being exposed to sniper fire. Nor that she wasn't warned of those very real dangers and as a civilian and parent had very real fears.

You tell me, is what you've seen closer to her version of events, or Obama's description of her going to tea parties?

But so long as you and Obama get a one-liner out of it all, why not mock something neither of you has the courage to do yourselves?

straw man, sean. i'm speaking strictly to her veractity. because i don't want to go to a war zone doesn't make her any more truthful.

Skip,

One of the generals who oversaw that trip and that specific incident, said that indeed the party WAS hustled along for security reasons.

A brief stop to listen to some poor kid read a short poem notwithstanding, I think I'll believe, you know, the guy in charge of security over the asshole who wears parachute pants and tells funny jokes, thanks.

fuck you, skippy. your candidate exaggerates all the time. but you are so busy licking his balls that you ignore it.

When you manage to pull your head out of your ass, why don't you talk about the dirty politics of winning the nomination by disenfranchising Michigan and Florida?

apparently trolls are back....and I thought they were just Repug....silly me...

I think that when ever our leaders are not being truthful...it is up to all us to hold them accountable....and keep the truth for all of us to see and read....thank you....

( and I think many of us have tried to keep Bush and his administration accountable...through a forest of lies...know that LIES matter...)

i don't know how many times i have to say, i endorse neither obama nor clinton. and i can guarantee that i post as many negative things about obama as i do about clinton, just to maintain the fairness balance.

but when i post against obama, i get the same crap from the obamabots.

I don't think that she or Chelsea would have been so very relaxed and walking around smiling if there was the least chance they might catch a sniper bullet.

Perhaps she exaggerated an incident until it was unrecognizable, but that's lying too. Perhaps she made it up whole.

The point is, lying is lying, and I can't stand liars. I also cannot stand those Dems who use Republican talking points all the time. Both Hills and the Big O do that regularly, with Hills being the one who is SUPPLYING the g(r)opers with fodder.

If she cannot win a clean fight, she should see what she can do in the Senate to lead us out of the wilderness - rather than leaving scorched earth behind her.
