two polls walk into a caucus...

...actually, more than two polls, and every one has a different candidate ahead in iowa, making it as close to a horse race as anything not involving ann coulter can be.

the asspress points out that cnn has clinton&obama tied ahead of edwards for the dems, and romney ahead of huckabee by 3 pts; however the des moines register shows obama way head of clinton&edwards, and huckabee ahead of romney by 6.

zogby has clinton slipping into a virtual three-way w/her opponents, and a tie also for huckabee and romney [ed. note: zogby's latest has obama ahead, followed by edwards, then clinton, and ron paul tying w/mccain for third in the gop field, w/huckabee way out front now].

big tent armando at talk left points out the des moines register assumes a large turn-out of independents voting for obama. in fact, hillaryclinton.com insists that the dmr model is historically-unprecendented, and thus should be discounted.

but clinton may be out of luck anyway, as dennis "the menace" kucinich is taking his own philosophy of "change" to heart, by changing his choice for 2nd place. unlike 2003 when kucinich told his followers to vote for edwards as their 2nd choice (which matters a great deal for dems in the iowa caucuses, as any candidate who doesn't pull 15% loses his/her supporters to their 2nd choices), this year dennis is urging them to back barack.

and what does blogtopia and yes, we coined that phrase, have to say about the whole schmear?

the left coaster leaves no snark behind in discussing sen. obama's progressive credentials;

booman suggests the abc strategy for iowa...anyone but clinton;

shakespeare's sister doesn't support clinton or obama, but thinks maureen dowd is a dope, and thinks mccain is something of a hypocrite;

jane at fdl thinks clinton's gravitas might carry the day [ed. note: jane also attended the edwards rally last night and wonders if edwards can do it in iowa...tip o'the kangaroo tail to john at c&l for the link!];

mjs over at correntewire finds a liberal's diary who finally refuses to be abused by obama;

our own dbk over at blanton's and ashton's is picking edwards and 6, but his trifecta is clinton, edwards and obama [ed. note: and dbk points out that mcclatchey papers are calling it for edwards, clinton, obama, tho they are separated by one point each, and romney will take the gop nod];

folkbum thinks ron paul will do as well in iowa as howard dean did;

digby tells us fred thompson may be regretting his departure from lawn order;

and brad blog reminds us that election integrity is still an issue!

DBK is pissed that you didn't mention him because he has Clinton, Edwards, Obama and by getting his bet down early, DBK was able to get Edwards and six points, which he considers to be a cinch. DBK feels forgotten in favor of Big Box bloggers like Jane Hamsher and Digby and my beloved Melissa.

I'm gonna have to start posting around here again.
