it's all over except the drinking

skippy has just returned from drinking liberally in santa monica, where the socal bloggers watched the iowa caucuses and drank.

the lovely mary and the lovely d-day, arranged for the group to meet, and skippy saw many of his old friends, including shayera, hekebolos, thereisnospoon and kaykay. and skippy met alicia of last left turn before hooterville.

the crowd was cheering to see that barack "to the future" obama won, but more that hillary lost. honestly, most people at the gathering were pulling for edwards, and were glad to see him place second.

also, everyone was happy to see huckabee hound cream mitt "don't call me baseball glove" romney. the concensus was that huckabee's win, combined with the large turnout for the democratic vote, represented the american public's desire for substantial change in the country.

here's the numbers, via latimes:

obama 38%, edwards 30%, clinton 29%, everyone else in teeny tiny single digits. in fact, biden and dodd have announced they are dropping out of the race.

huckabee 34%, romney 25%, thompson & mccain, 13% each, ron paul 10%, and rudy giuliani embarrassing.

for the record, pygalgia called the race correctly in jim yeager's contest. and here's thought theater's picture version of the iowa cauci.
