victim of a self-hate crime

britt hume at fox news wonders why there's no moral outrage over an attack on a conservative student at princeton university:

conservative students and faculty at princeton university are questioning the absence of campus and community outrage — following the beating of a student leading a morality movement at the school. the new york sun reports francisco nava was attacked by two men last week and told to shut up. the beating came two days after nava received death threats by e-mail.

nava — who is a mormon — wrote in the student newspaper that a school campaign to distribute free condoms on campus was a — "tacit sponsorship of hookup sex." three other members of the morally conservative anscombe society also received the threats, along with a conservative professor.

princeton graduate michael fragoso tells the sun — "there would rightly be outrage had the student been part of some other minority on campus. i have yet to see that right now, and that's rather disappointing."

very disappointing! maybe the reason why there wasn't more hue and cry over this incident was because it was all made up...asspress:

a princeton university student who argued that his conservative views were not accepted on the campus confessed to fabricating an assault and sending threatening e-mail messages to himself and some friends who shared his views, authorities said monday.

princeton township police said that francisco nava was not immediately charged with any crime, but that the investigation was continuing.

nava claimed to have been assaulted friday by two men off campus, police said. but he later confessed that scrapes and scratches on his face were self-inflicted, and that the threats were his work, too, said detective sgt. ernie silagyi.

a spokeswoman for the ivy league university said punishment, which could range from a warning to expulsion, was pending monday.

trex, who brought this story to our attention, suggests that this new phenomenon of conservatives beating themselves up to appear persecuted needs a new name. he suggests "martyrhausen by proxy" or "kegadoru conservatives." we prefer "victims of self-hate crimes."

I'm with Terri on this one, I like Victims of Self-Hate Crimes too, but it's missing that 'one-or-two syllable simplicity'... We should ask some of the folks in the picket lines for some good ones.
