she was murdered, end of discussion...

josh marshall pretty much destroys the pakistani government's assertion that benazir bhutto died from slamming her head against her car's sunroof:

dr. mussadiq khan of rawalpindi general hospital, who treated bhutto before she was declared dead, said she had "a big wound" on the side of her head "that usually occurs when something big, with a lot of speed, hits that area."
the key details are there, something big at high speed. i guess 'big' is relative in this context, but that sounds a lot like she got shot or hit by a bomb fragment. and frankly, how likely is it that someone shoots at you several times at point blank range, near so (the video suggests no more than ten feet), and then detonates a bomb a few feet away from you and a few minutes later you're dead and it had nothing to do with either of those things?

i'd say, not likely.

cnn national security analyst ken robinson, who worked in u.s. intelligence in pakistan during the clinton administration, said he suspects bhutto's enemies are attempting to control her legacy by minimizing the attack's role in her demise.

"they're trying to deny her a martyr's death, and in islam, that's pretty important," robinson said...

this is one incredibly petty stance on the part of the pakistani government. benazir bhutto may have a checkered legacy, but even if the government's account of her death is the correct one, she is not the slightest bit diminished or trivialized by it...

That's really the point, isn't it? Every action like this is often accompanied by rumors, false reports, etc. But surely it is almost completely irrelevant whether it was bullets, bomb shrapnel, or a bomb slamming her head against the car - she was murdered. The idea that somehow it is in Musharaff's interest to convince people it wasn't a bullet or shrapnel but the car is ridiculous - what earthly difference does it make? People are making a big effing deal out of nothing (not the murder being nothing, but the actual cause of death).

Maybe I should look at the bright side - maybe it'll give 9-11 conspiracy nuts something else to think about.

as a nurse that has worked ER and Some Forensics....there is Nothing in this story that matches her having a head injury from "ducking"....( skull fractures don't usally have buckets of blood, internal bleeding sometimes....the Van photos tell the story..sadly)

over at the Telegraph UK, there is any amazing piece today written by I.Wilkerson, that has photos by John Moore and also video that Pakistan Govt is releasing- they have cut the GUN out of the footage....

and Huff Post also has Xrays and Very graphic photos..

( thanks for blogging this...I too blogged on her and her death two days ago- amazing the negative things people still will say about this woman after she just died a bloody death....so sad..)
