cnn poll: america doesn't heart huckabee (but, apparently, the minutemen do!)

whoops! in a new cnn poll, mike huckabee loses so badly against all the democratic candidates that if he becomes the repubbb nominee, mike dukakis might have to relinquish his "most embarrasing presidential election results ever" award.

in head-to-head matchups -- the first to include huckabee -- the former arkansas governor loses to sen. hillary clinton of new york by 10 percentage points (54 percent to 44 percent), to sen. barack obama of illinois by 15 points (55 percent to 40 percent) and to former sen. john edwards of north carolina by 25 points (60 percent to 35 percent).

the poll comes on the heels of a cnn/opinion research poll released monday that showed huckabee doubled his support nationally among likely republican voters in the last month and is in a statistical dead heat with former new york mayor rudy giuliani. view complete poll results
john edwards has got to be happy, because he performs the best of the dems in one-t0-one match-ups against all the repubbbs.

meanwhile, nobody hearts huckabee like racist militia groups, and the founder of the minutemen has officially endorsed him. the trail over at washpost:

mike huckabee, under fire for some of his immigration stands while governor of arkansas, picked up an endorsement in council bluffs, iowa, from the ultimate illegal immigration opponent: jim gilchrist, founder of the minuteman project, the group that has roamed the border for the last several years operating effectively as an independent border patrol.

president bush called the group "vigilantes" two years ago. but huckabee seemed eager to announce the endorsement, as it came on a day when former massachusetts governor mitt romney started running an ad that slams huckabee for backing a provision that would have allowed the children of illegal immigrants to receive in-state tuition in arkansas.
some would think that an endorsement by a racist wouldn't be something to brag about, but huckabee's on a mission from god.

who knew jesus was a bigot?

For the record, they pronounce it "My Newt Men"

Or rather, they should.

Huckabee's implication that he's God's candidate is reason enough not to vote for him... although there are many other reasons.
