bhreaking: bhutto bhlown away in bhig bhlast

benezair bhutto, opposition leader in pakistan, was killed by a suicide assassin today. cnn international:

pakistan's former prime minister benazir bhutto was assassinated thursday outside a large gathering of her supporters where a suicide bomber also killed at least 14, doctors and a spokesman for her party said.

while bhutto appeared to have died from bullet wounds, it was not immediately clear if she was shot or if her wounds were caused by bomb shrapnel.

president pervez musharraf held an emergency meeting in the hours after the death, according to state media.

police warned citizens to stay home as they expected rioting to break out in city streets in reaction to the death.

police sources told cnn the bomber, who was riding a motorcycle, blew himself up near bhutto's vehicle. watch aftermath of the attack. »

this will most certainly destabilize an already tenuous situation in pakistan.

addendum: scorpio of the bhlog eccentricity, points out that the bhomb bhlast did not do bhutto in, bhut rather it was a bhullet that bhlew her away. bhbhc news:

ms bhutto - the first woman pm in an islamic state - was leaving an election rally in rawalpindi when a gunman shot her in the neck and set off a bomb.

and so we bhid ms. bhutto bhye bhye as she travels to the great bheyond.

I note that the BBC News article says she was shot in the chest and head and then fell into her car again. The bomb wet off after that and took another 20 or so victims.

All the US news outlets make it sound like a bomb got her, but she actually was in a hospital by the time she died.

Good thing Pakistan is our ally. I'd hate to think that a nation so comlpletely unstable and armed with dozens of nuclear warheads could fall into complete chaos under the reign of muslim extremists and still NOT be our ally first.
