skippy's wednesday nite music club

in honor of tonight's country music awards, we were going to bring you reba & kelly singing their nominated duet because of you. however, the embedding was disabled by request.

so we went to our next fav country star who's nominated tonight, the reliable george strait, doing one of his great numbers, check yes or no. but, again, the embedding was disabled by request.

so we went to tonight's odd-on favorite to win, brad paisley, to bring you his super-hit online, the video for which was directed by jason alexander (yes, george costanza). but, guess what the embedding was? you got it! disabled by request.

then, we decided we'd bring you gretchen wilson's california girls, since she won best newcomer award three years ago, thinking that would be a safe bet...

no. embedding diabled by request.

the country music industry is not doing itself any favors by refusing to let their hits get embedded into blogs, in our opinion. or, maybe, we just happened to pick the four songs that the record companies don't want shared with skippy's audience, for whatever reason.

so, here's the best we could do...

the carter sisters - love, love, love

My own tribute to the CMAs.
i loves me some brad paisley, mostly because he writes clever songs and is a first-class muthaf***a as a guitar player!

But most of the rest of modern country is about as interesting as an ashley/jessica simpson duet covering the best of disney movie themes: sacchirine crap not worth my time.

so as for the carters, they are the history of country, truly the first family of american roots.

good choice!

well, steve, i love reba, and i really like kelly clarkson (tho technically she's not pure country) and it's really hard to not like george strait. and i thought the gretchen wilson song was pretty funny.
