he is so money

maybe skippy should mint his own, coins, too.

federal officials have seized coins minted in the image of ron paul. washpost:

federal agents on thursday raided the evansville, ind., headquarters of the national organization for the repeal of the federal reserve act and internal revenue code (norfed), an organization of "sound money" advocates that for the past decade has been selling a private currency it calls "liberty dollars." the company says it has put into circulation more than $20 million in liberty dollars, coins and paper certificates it contends are backed by silver and gold stored in idaho, are far more reliable than a u.s. dollar and are accepted for use by a nationwide underground economy.

norfed officials said yesterday that the six-hour raid occurred just as its six employees were mailing out the first batch of 60,000 "ron paul dollars," copper coins sold for $1 to honor the candidate, who is a longtime advocate of abolishing the federal reserve. the group says it has shipped out about 10,000 silver ron paul dollars that sold for $20 and about 3,500 of the copper $1 coins. but it said the agents seized more than 50,000 of the copper coins -- more than two tons' worth -- plus smaller amounts of the silver coins and gold and platinum ron paul dollars, which sell for $1,000 and $2,000.
there has been some talk around blogtopia (mainly on comment threads) about how ron paul actually is a viable candidate for president. we contend that this incident is proof that he isn't nuts, then his folowers are; tho his campaign has stated they have no affiliation with the ron paul dollars.

of course, the ron paul dollars are more impressive than the mitt romney nickels.

Yeah, the feds took my Monopoly money too. Ad if NORFED is tying their money to US dollars, they really are nuts. The Euro is probably a safer bet.

Yeah, the so-called liberal blogosphere has been having a lot of fun at the expense of the Ron Paul followers. Nice work.

While I don't agree with a lot of his points, his campaign has intrigued me. At least he is rather clear on a number of issues which is more than you can say for most of the Democrats. Paul wants us out of Iraq, now. Clinton seemed to hem and haw and indicate it might take two terms for a "successful" withdrawal of American troops. Can't even find Obama's position of the damn war.

So go ahead make fun of those who might be supporting non-traditional candidates, but be careful...you might need their support if the races get close.

Scrape the Romney coins and you'll probably find they're made of wood.

Who's next, the Franklin Mint? I do not understand how the minting of commemorative coins, whatever you and your friends choose to do with them (i.e., trade them with each other for goods and services) could be or should be illegal. This is an outrageous intrusion by the government.

And, in case there's any doubt, I have absolutely no truck whatsoever for Ron Paul as a candidate.
i'm with left i on this...i assumed they weren't being proffered as legal tender.

however, culture ghost, as much as i agree w/some of paul's more salient points, i think his ideas of aboloshing the irs and the federal reserve tend towards cloud cuckoo land.

and i don't disparage his positions without thinking about the help his candidacy will bring to whatever result i hope will be achieved. on the contrary, i'm betting that ron paul will siphon off a sizable number of gop votes, thus helping to defeat giuliani/romney.

of course, that would probably leave us with president hillary, which, unless it's duff, i am not interested in.

Can't you guys run somebody worth voting for?

Dave Neiwert, the guy you pummeled in the voting for not-last-place, has a great piece out about how Ron Paul has more than a few chummy connections with the likes of Stormfront, skinheads and other whitey flakes.

According to the news I read, the coins were backing paper money out of Coeur d'Alene, ID. This was supposed to replace our greenbacks when the great Race War sends all the race traitors and brown people to Mars or some stuff like that.

Could never wrap my head around their bull crap. Stormfront, KKK, Turner Diaries, Aryan Nation...all that crap raise stupidity and low brow neanderthal thinking to a virtue. How is that fun?
