skippy's monday nite music club

we recently featured the byrds at skippy's music club, and got a lot of great response.

ergo, tonite we bring you...

the byrds w/earl scruggs - you ain't going nowhere

there has long been a connection between rock and folk/country in the roots of popular music, and this is a good example of such.

Thanks so much skippy. I can only say.....sweet, so sweet.

Who knew?

This made me grin until my cheeks hurt. I'm not sure why.

That's the lovely and talented Clarence White on lead guitar, having recently invented the B-string-bender.

Phenomenal guitarist, died shortly after. I saw him play once at the Ash Grove on Melrose, in 1970. I have pictures.

Thanks, skippy.

The others are Randy Scruggs (acoustic guitar),
Gary Scruggs, (bass, 2nd vocals), Skip Battin (electric bass), Gene Parsons (drums).

Jeebus, they all look so young. Nice find skippy.

Unless I'm gravely mistaken, Gene Parsons also had a hand in the development of the bender guitar. I'll have to ask him next time I see him in the hardware store.
