much has been made of the newest osama bin laden tape, most of it pointless. do we really care that bin laden seems to be using just for terrorists on his beard these days? hey, maybe he's finally getting some. that would at least calm him down, and maybe all the sleeper cells might just scale back taking pictures of the brooklyn bridge.

even stranger are all the reports saying the tape is recent because bin laden mentions rising interest rates, global warming and the anniversary of the bombing of hiroshima. these points, news anchors are droning, prove that the tape was made last month.

rising interest rates? global warming? sounds like last month. or this time last year. or 2005. or 2004, 2003 or 2002.

what if it's a tape that teenaged osama made long ago just for a lark? those nutty islamic terrorists!
