don't...stop...thinking about her morals

hillary.com wants us to vote for hillary's theme song. they've provided a list of suggestions to choose from.

we think it's more appropriate to suggest our own nominations.

for example, sammy davis, jr:

or some elton john:

or ace of base:

and you knew this one was coming...bruce springsteen doing some mitch ryder and the detroit wheels:

any other suggestions?

ed. addendum: ok, kids, let's get some comments going! we're making this a contest! best song suggestion for hillary's campaign wins a beautiful skippy the bush kangaroo tee shirt, size large, because that's the size we've got left in the warehouse!

so put on your thinking caps and get snarky!

I'm being slammed by Team Hillary over on that "other" place. They are threatening, quite scary, actually.

I don't want ANYTHING to do with Hillary now. I don't even want to see her name, let alone type it...and Buddha help it....listen to songs about her.

YUCK. I feel I need a shower after having jack booted Yellow Democrat thugs after me.

Take it away, skippy. I'm sure they'll find their way over here...again...to diss you about "trashing" their soon to be President.

Don't need the t-shirt -- I have two of them, one for work, one for everything else. (The work shirt has taken a beating, but it's still in one piece, no rips or anything.)

This electioneering by politicians just isn't going to let up, is it? We don't vote for candidates anymore, we vote for celebrities. This is what happens when a society allows television to become its dominant medium. And people wonder why, as a blogger, I have no use for YouTube. (You just had to cross-post this one, didn't you? Ah well...)

But about this contest. So, Hillary wants a theme song for her biiig celebrity campaign. Okay, I've got it: "Democracy" by Leonard Cohen. It's perfect for these times -- "I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean/I love the country, but I can't stand the scene." After eight years of that insolent little manchild Slappy Codpiece, I can handle at least four of Hillary. I already know she's a conniving carpetbagger, so what the hell -- if she gets the nomination, I'll vote for her...

Hmmm... After reading what Jill wrote...

I don't know exactly who these others are, but they can trash me all they want -- I was never in their "camp" to start with. And if they threaten me, then I'll just abandon the Dems like I did the Republicans and vote for Ralph Nader. I did it in 2000, I'll do it again.

This election is still a year and a half away. Anyone who's that obsessed with its possible outcome this early is not to be suffered gladly, let alone taken seriously. I mean, what is all of this electioneering about, anyway? What are we looking at here, fucking Romper Room? Any day now, I'm expecting these Republican candidates to put on blackface and start singing Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People." Whoever puts that on YouTube will be eligible for a Pulitzer...

K, so Bubba's gonna come in and announce HE has a 'dancingly-paired theme' song to go along with whatever Hill's choosen to enliven (AND RE-ENERGIZE!!!!) her campaign.

Tailing the announcement with a bite of his boyishly-weepy lower lip, Bill will announce with a twinkle in his eye that HIS song for his newly discovered soulmate's campaign will unite all the men in the lower, eastern third region of Bourbon street who used to actually vote democratic before the party decided to allow itself to go completely insane:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGSEac-zAC4

...Just as soon as Hillary drops the Rodham entirely, Hillary as well, and renames herself simply: "Bessy".

Breath it back into Bourbon boys :)...

I've always thought the song She's Always a Woman by Billy Joel would be extremely appropriate for Hillary.

Shes always a woman

She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child
But shes always a woman to me

She can lead you to love
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But shell never believe you
And shell take what you give her, as long as its free
She steals like a thief
But shes always a woman to me

Chorus
Oh-she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
Shes ahead of her time
Oh-and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind

And shell promise you more
Than the garden of eden
Then shell carelessly cut you
And laugh while youre bleedin
But shell bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
Cause shes always a woman to me

Chorus

She is frequently kind
And shes suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
Shes nobodys fool
But she cant be convicted
Shes earned her degree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But shes always a woman to me

Thank you for a weird reason. The Springsteen song wasn't too bad, even if he's odd for other reasons. But, the others, especially the Sammy Davis thing were such a jarring exposition of the generation's narcissism and unwillingness/inability to sacrifice for the common good. (If you don't get it, you haven't lived with or through it. "Gotta be me" is great for a 16 year old, it makes for a thoroughly dysfunctional adult.)

"What Good Am I?" - Bob Dylan

What good am I if I'm like all the rest,
If I just turned away, when I see how you're dressed,
If I shut myself off so I can't hear you cry,
What good am I?

What good am I if I know and don't do,
If I see and don't say, if I look right through you,
If I turn a deaf ear to the thunderin' sky,
What good am I?

What good am I while you softly weep
And I hear in my head what you say in your sleep,
And I freeze in the moment like the rest who don't try,
What good am I?

What good am I then to others and me
If I've had every chance and yet still fail to see
If my hands tied must I not wonder within
Who tied them and why and where must I have been

What good am I if I say foolish things
And I laugh in the face of what sorrow brings
And I just turn my back while you silently die,
What good am I?

Sometimes its hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times
Doing things that you don't understand
But if you love him you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him
Oh be proud of him
'Cause after all he's just a man
Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man
Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can

Donovan - Season Of The Witch Lyrics

When I look out my window,
Many sights to see.
And when I look in my window,
So many different people to be
That it's strange, so strange.
You've got to pick up every stitch,
You've got to pick up every stitch,
You've got to pick up every stitch,
Mm, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.

When I look over my shoulder,
What do you think I see ?
Some other cat looking over
His shoulder at me
And he's strange, sure he's strange.
You've got to pick up every stitch,
You've got to pick up every stitch,
Beatniks are out to make it rich,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.

You've got to pick up every stitch,
The rabbits running in the ditch,
Beatniks are out to make it rich,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch.
When I look.

When I look out my window,
What do you think I see ?
And when I look in my window,
So many different people to be
It's strange, sure it's strange.
You've got to pick up every stitch,
You've got to pick up every stitch,
The rabbits running in the ditch,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.

OK, so now, my choice of song, keeping in mind that I actually *like* Hillary...maybe it's that I've got a daughter of a certain age that I know this song, but no one else does...

Meredith Brooks - "Bitch"

http://youtube.com/watch?v=fk58p1jeCCA

I hate the world today
You're so good to me
I know but I can't change
Tried to tell you
But you look at me like maybe
I'm an angel underneath
Innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
Must have been relieved to see
The softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
All rolled into one
Chorus:
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way

So take me as I am
This may mean
You'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that
When I start to make you nervous
And I'm going to extremes
Tomorrow I will change
And today won't mean a thing

Chorus

Just when you think, you got me figured out
The season's already changing
I think it's cool, you do what you do
And don't try to save me

Chorus

I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
When you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numb, I'm revived
Can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way

Weve taken care of everything
The words you hear, the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes
Its one for all, all for one
We work together, common sons
Never need to wonder how or why

We are the priests
Of the temples of syrinx
Our great computers
Fill the hollowed halls
We are the priests
Of the temples of syrinx
All the gifts of life
Are held within our walls

Look around this world we made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the brotherhood of man
Oh what a wide contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the red star proudly high in hand

We are the priests
Of the temples of syrinx
Our great computers
Fill the hollowed halls
We are the priests
Of the temples of syrinx
All the gifts of life
Are held within our walls

Now you're heading down to get someone
Should've done what he had to do years ago
The position is coming through
All the people that you're standing on
All the people that you're standing on

Now you're heading down to be someone
Someone that you've seen in a magazine
Your premonition is coming true
Oh baby you're not so green
No baby you're not so green
No baby you're nutso

Sister madly waking up the dead
You're systematically stepping on my head

Now you're heading down to find something
Something that you buried in your backyard
The position is coming through
From all the dirt that you're digging up
From all the dirt that you're digging up
Now you're heading down to be somewhere
Somewhere you imagined in your wildest dream
The opposition is coming through
From all the people that you're standing on
From all the people that you're standing on
Now you'd better take a firm hand

Sister madly waking up the dead
You're systematically stepping on my head

Now you're heading down to get someone
Someone that you should've had years ago
The position is coming through
All the people that you're standing on
All the people that you're standing on
You're hard to get a hand on

Sister madly waking up the dead
Systematically stepping on my head

Blue Oyster Cult -- "Veteran of the Psychic Wars"

BLUE OYSTER CULT lyrics - "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars"

www.OldieLyrics.com

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
I've been living on the edge so long, where the winds of limbo roar
And I'm young enough to look at, and far too old to see
All the scars are on the inside
I'm not sure that there's anything left of me

Don't let these shakes go on, it's time we had a break from it
It's time we had some leave
We've been living in the flames
We've been eating up our brains
Oh please, don't let these shakes go on.

You ask me why I'm weary, why I can't speak to you
You blame me for my silence, say it's time I changed and grew
But the war's still going on, dear, and there's nowhen that I know
And I can't stand forever
I can't say if we're ever gonna be free

Don't let these shakes go on, it's time we had a break from it
It's time we had some leave
We've been living in the flames
We've been eating up our brains
Oh please, don't let these shakes go on.

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
My energy is spent at last, and my armor is destroyed
I have used up all my weapons, and I'm helpless and bereaved
Wounds are all I'm made of
Did I hear you say that this is victory?

Don't let these shakes go on, it's time we had a break from it
Send me to the rear
Where the tides of madness swell
And men sliding into hell
Oh please, don't let these shakes go on.

Comfortably Numb, by Floyd

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now,
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I'll need some information first.
Just the basic facts.
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

O.K.
Just a little pinprick.
There'll be no more aaaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.
