we just can't keep our lefty blogging despots straight

just when we had resolved ourselves to obeying kos as the leader of blogofascism, it turns out that deb frisch is really the spokesperson of lefty blogtopia (y!wctp!).

who is deb frisch, you ask? funny, that's what we asked.

apparently, deb is a blogger who left some particularly nasty comments on jeff goldstein's site degrading his wife and his son. granted, the comments were out of line.

(however, we maintain that unless she actually posted jeff's son's address, a la some of the more vengeful of the hardly-ever-right wing, she didn't do anyhting more than be a total asshole. and believe us, if that was against the law, we'd be on death row.)

the hardly-ever-right wing is all a'twitter that the rest of us haven't risen up in an uncontrolled rage over the disgusting and evil child molesting that deb's comments invoke. most of the right wing have decided that deb is indicative of the left, and since we've not condemned her en masse, we, by default, agree with her.

* sigh * where to start, where to start?

firstly, let's point out that nobody apparently bothered to look at deb's site meter. if they had, they would have discovered that deb has been a blogger for less than a year (tho granted, her dust-up w/jeff has certainly boosted her traffic).

secondly, take a look at the technorati list of who links to deb.

[ed. note: sorry, we inadvertantly failed to link to that technorati list for the first 12 hours of this post. our apologies]

ignore all the blogs that have linked to her in the past two days, during which she posted the disgusting jon benet ramsey metaphors on protein wisdom, and thus got the resulting avalanche of traffic. (hmmm, maybe we should be insulting glenn reynold's mom...no, wait, he doesn't have comments. oh well...)

you'll see that a total of 12, that's right, an even dozen, 12 blogs had linked to deb's site south(west)paw in the past year.

our point? well, it's not like deb was very active in the circle of progressives that we visit on a daily monthly basis. it's not like deb was ever one of the deeper thinkers, or even one of the snarkier pundits on the left. in other words, deb was pretty much not anybody.

so, we are sorry if somebody we didn't know said something we didn't know about to somebody we don't read threatening his child we didn't even know he had.

but, it's not our fault.

and, as we said over on mahablog's comments, that when goldstein, malkin, reynolds, coulter, limbaugh, hannity, o’reilly, et al., apologize for the christian identiy movement and the guys who dragged james bird behind a pickup truck and the guys who smashed in matthew shepard’s head, and take responsibility for the more unhinged on their side, then we'll talk.

addendum: we agree with marc cooper (and this is probably a first) when he says:

deb frisch, a left-wing wacko? it sure looks that way. now, who would like to start compiling the list of right-wing loons? i don't have the time, thank you very much.
erratum: reader tom maguire points out that our claim that deb has been blogging for less than a year is incorrect, as she has archives dating back to nov. 02. tho, in tom's words "she is mercifully irregular until about october 2004."

it simply didn't occur to us that zero traffic did not mean she wasn't blogging. it could mean she was blogging but, and this is our original point, nobody cared.

and we still stand by our premise that technorati's lack of pertinent links before the goldstein dust-up shows that, again, nobody cared.
