dear chuck: go chuck yourself
as the purveyors of one of the most popular blogs at this url, we get lots of emails, most of which are asking us to invest in a nigerian banking transaction, but some of which are about the politics and policies of the left.
we get several each week from the democratic senatorial campaign committee, proudly touting one thing or another that the dscc has on its $100-a-plate. one thing we haven't seen in those pr emails is an explanation of why chuck schumer, head of the dscc, has not "ruled out" official support of joe "cry me a river" lieberman if he decides to run as an independent in the connecticut senatorial race.
that's right. the head of the committee to support democratic senatorial races has implied that they will support an independent over whatever candidate the actual democrats of a state happen to choose for the primary (read: ned lamont). hotline:

schumer said that the dscc "fully supports" sen. joe lieberman in his primary bid, and he refused to rule out continuing that support if lieberman were to run as an independent.
there were degrees of independence, schumer said. "you can run as an independent, you can run as an independent democrat who pledges to vote for harry reid as majority leader."
schumer said he had neither sought nor recieved assurances from lieberman that an independent bid would not ensue if ned lamont tightened the noose.
that's all well and good, but then we'd sure like our in-box to stop getting clogged up with dscc junkmail, if the "d" is just going to stand for "doofus" and not "democrat." so we wrote letters:there were degrees of independence, schumer said. "you can run as an independent, you can run as an independent democrat who pledges to vote for harry reid as majority leader."

to whom it may concern:
unless chuck schumer formally and publicly retracts his statement that the dscc will not "rule out" supporting lieberman if he runs as an independent, and commit to supporting whatever democrat is elected in connecticut's primary (remember the word "democrat"? it's what the "d" in "dscc" stands for), you can kindly stop sending us your pr emails.
unless and until the dscc devotes its energies to "democrats," whomever is elected by the democratic party, and stop coddling "incumbents," especially ones that willingly leave the party, the dscc stands as a hollow man, with no pretense to actually serving the party. and we personally see no need to propagate its disingenuousness, or even waste our energy deleting your press releases.
please stop sending us emails, until schumer announces the dscc will support only democrats and not independents in the connecticut race.
sincerely,
etc.
if you're as angry about this as we are, why not call the committee directly and ask them about schumer's apparent conflict of interest (isn't the fact that the main democratic party apparatus for support in senatorial races might possibly support someone who's not in the party over a legitimately-selected candidate, a true conflict of interest?)unless chuck schumer formally and publicly retracts his statement that the dscc will not "rule out" supporting lieberman if he runs as an independent, and commit to supporting whatever democrat is elected in connecticut's primary (remember the word "democrat"? it's what the "d" in "dscc" stands for), you can kindly stop sending us your pr emails.

the other day i noticed at a how blatantly their connecticut page ignores that lieberman has a challenger named lamont. (what will they do after our primary victory, make a quick link to www.nedlamont.com ?)
today, i note dscc has a blog. join me, and post on your blogs promoting your readers to do the same, let's pound the dscc blog with messages from subtle to outraged asking for acknowledgement of this race by dscc and also raising awareness of ned lamont nationwide.
[full disclosure: the dscc link on the original post from ctblue simply takes you to the home page, we went ahead and linked you to the lamont-free connecticut page.]
