we may be infidels, but we aren't savages...

this is flat out insane:

...one former defense official said the military planning was premised on a belief that "a sustained bombing campaign in iran will humiliate the religious leadership and lead the public to rise up and overthrow the government"...

proof positive that "military intelligence" is an oxymoron. muslims bombed a mosque in samarra and that led to shiites and sunnis shedding each other's blood by the barrel, but if americans bomb a mosque in iran, the locals will replace the current iranian government with a pro-american one? ho-kay, sure...

...

one of the options under consideration involves the possible use of a bunker-buster tactical nuclear weapon, such as the b61-11, to insure the destruction of iran's main centrifuge plant at natanz...

this should not even be in the heads of executive branch people, never mind on any table within the pentagon. if america drops one nuke on one nation, that's the end -- what's left of our credibility with the rest of the world will be irremediably shot.

(thoroughly disturbed version at mockingbird's medley...)
