republican ideology

u.s. royalty plan to give windfall to oil companies - washington, feb. 13 — the federal government is on the verge of one of the biggest giveaways of oil and gas in american history, worth an estimated $7 billion over five years.

new projections, buried in the interior department's just-published budget plan, anticipate that the government will let companies pump about $65 billion worth of oil and natural gas from federal territory over the next five years without paying any royalties to the government.
we know that glenn greenwald has been pluming the depths, trying to document the absence of republican ideology, but we think he has overlooked a crucial premise to his investigation. republicans have two ideologies. the first is for running campaigns – that ideology is about freedom, small government and lower taxes. the second is for running the country – that is about using government to make rich people richer and poor people poorer (hey, cut ‘em some slack – the money’s got to come from somewhere.)
