grima wormtongue speaks – the dark lord (f.o.a.l.)* has no comment

crooks & liars lead us to murray waas, who today reports

cheney 'authorized' libby to leak classified information - vice president dick cheney's former chief of staff, i. lewis (scooter) libby, testified to a federal grand jury that he had been "authorized" by cheney and other white house "superiors" in the summer of 2003 to disclose classified information to journalists to defend the bush administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case to go to war with iraq, according to attorneys familiar with the matter, and to court records.

the constitution defines the authority of the vice president thusly:

the vice president of the united states shall be president of the senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided. (art. i, sec. 3)

grima, according to mr. waas, is going for the oliver north, “i’m just a minnow in a sea of sharks defense.” while the gambit worked for ollie, it’s questionable whether anyone will believe ole grima was such a defenseless dupe of the dark lord (as opposed to say, believing that grima was the dark lord’s willing co-conspirator). what we really like about the ollie defense, however, is that it requires grima to assert that the dark lord committed a national security crime – which is an impeachable offense.
