hello, this is skippy the bush kangaroo for the tbd association of america

reader gottalaff says she's teary-eyed at the exit of no more mister nice blog from blogtopia (y!wctp!).

sigh. obviously, another needless victim of tbd syndrome...yes, we are talking about ted barlow disease. what can be done to counteract this insidious ailment that seems to attack bloggers after about 2 years worth of steady blogging, making them listless, blogless, dreary, bleary, weary and wild-eyed? a disease that makes otherwise clever people decide to stop giving their opinions to the literally dozens of people that are clamoring to read them, instead of doing their accounts at work?

well, first of all, we notice that no more mr. nice blog actually posted another entry after his goodbye essay. shades of billmon! let's face it, blogging is like sex, only slightly less messy and way less fun...if it's in your system, ya just gotta do it, no matter what.

we have some ideas as to how to avoid tbd syndrome. first of all, be sure to have a real life outside of blogtopia (y!wctp!). do not spend more than 2 hours a day at your computer. cultivate friends who have never heard of joe trippi or ken mehlman. go to a movie, or even watch tv (not cnn or fox. not even headline news. if you must, local news at 11, but that's all. stick to the food network or espn).

secondly, if you must blog, do not...we repeat...do not do it in your pajamas! this won't do anything to help you avoid contracting tbd syndrome, but why give the mainstream press any frickin' ammunition? always blog fully clothed. you'll thank us later.

thirdly, make sure you read books. yes, there once was a medium where electrodes firing on a screen refreshed every few milliseconds were not the preferred avenue on which words were placed to be read. grab a physical book, hold it in your hands...you'll notice your eyes don't get as tired.

and, while you're reading books, make sure you read history. this will get your gaze out of the collective navel of present times, and help you realize that everything that is happening now has happened before. hopefully, this will make you less agitated about whatever political position you may hold. knowing that every idea has occurred in the past, and worked out pretty well, should lower your blood pressure.

also, speaking of sex, have it! often! and we highly recommend using a partner, as well. and then, be sure to have a conversation afterwards. you'll be surprised how reinvigorating and refreshing human contact can be.

and, finally, if all else fails, and you find yourself becoming more and more bored with disseminating your thoughts on a daily basis, there's always the tried and true method of using guest bloggers! as many as you can get to contribute to your blog. of course, this is an incredibly lazy way to continue to fill up cyberspace, and there's very little integrity involved. but, trust us, it works.

remember, ted barlow disease can be avoided. with your help, the dreaded two-year wall of indifference can be jumped with relative ease. and bloggers everywhere can continue providing the necessary snark to make the political scene paltable.

thank you.
